The CW show “Supernatural” has a history of major cliffhanger season finale episodes. Tonight’s conclusion to the fifth season of the show will be no different as the Winchester brothers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), try to save the world from Lucifer’s (Lost’s Mark Pellegrino) plan to destroy mankind.
Chances are, if you are reading this article, you already follow the show, but in case you are new, here is a general recap the destinies of the Winchester boys: Sam and Dean are supernatural creature hunters. They accidentally kicked off the apocalypse at the end of the last season in their attempt to prevent the last of the sixty-six seals from breaking and release Lucifer. Sam turns out to be the destined vessel for Lucifer and Dean is to be the Archangel Michael’s “sword”. Less than honest dealings on the part of angels secured the brothers’ illegitimate half-brother, Adam Milligan (Jake Abel) to be Michael’s vessel while Sam is still numero only on Lucifer’s meat puppet dance card. Sam might be able to fight Lucifer and even bring him down if he says “yes” to Lucifer.
One thing is for sure, this showdown between Lucifer and Michael will be more than a Death Match between the two. Showrunner Sera Gamble promises that the fight will “cause the destruction of half the planet” with the Winchesters doing their best to try to save it, involving an incredibly risky move from Sam. The Winchesters will “hit rock bottom” in this season finale and I suggest that you have your tissue box at the ready. This is going to be a rough ride. Word is:
“at least one ‘beloved character’ won’t survive [the apocalyptic finale]”.

“Supernatural” is renewed for another season so there will be a world of some sort after the apocalypse. Mark Pellegrino who plays Lucifer thinks that fans will be satisfied with the finale, saying:
“I think they will be [satisfied]. There’s a part of me that hopes they’re not so Lucifer can come back. [Laughs] From what I’ve seen, the fans will be satisfied.”
