SUPERNATURAL Is The Fan Favorite – The Winchesters Adorn TV Guide Cover

In TV Guide Magazine’s first Fan Favorite cover contest, loyal followers of the Winchester brothers beat out fans of all other shows with 5.5 million votes to crown The CW’s Supernatural as the fan fave. Through promotion from online fan groups, Facebook, and tweets from actors Misha Collins and Jim Beaver on Twitter drumming up support, fans have succeeded in bringing great exposure to one of the most engrossing shows on television with a rich mythology, rough-and-tumble sense of humor, and a fantastic soundtrack.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) have been to hell and back (literally) defending the good, unsuspecting public against supernatural foes. Its gritty, non-glamorous approach to monster-hunting coupled with constant trials testing the humanity and morality of the characters contribute to what makes this genre show stand out. Ackles talked about the show’s devoted fans:

“We have an incredibly loyal, devoted — and aggressive — fan base. We don’t get a whole lot of attention, so it’s nice when the show can get recognized, not only for us, but for the fans as well. They like to brag about the show.”

Beaver, who plays Bobby Singer on the show, echoed the level of fan involvement with the show:

“I used to think for fans, it was about blood and guts and scary stuff yelling ‘Boo!’ I don’t think so any more. This show has a lot of heart, and the fans really care about the relationships.”

Alice Jester who heads the fansite, thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com, talked about what this means for the fans:

“The fans wanted a TV Guide cover so badly. The show gives us so much, and the fact that it’s small and under appreciated makes us work hard to get others to know about it, too.”

Supernatural – The Cover of TV Guide

Supernatural is gaining momentum. The show even beat out True Blood and Lost in this year’s People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show.
