I’m one of those people who was actually a fan of director Paul Verhoeven‘s (Total Recall) big-screen adaptation of author Robert A. Heinlein‘s Sci-Fi novel Starship Troopers and as such, in the apparently remake crazy town of Hollywood, I’m fairly suprised it’s taken this long for someone to forge ahead with a remake of the 1997 film.

Now, NYMag reports that Sony Pictures Entertainment and producer Neal Moritz have decided that Starship Troopers is now ripe for a reboot. Screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class) have been brought aboard to pen the reboot.

No production or release dates have been announced for Starship Troopers.
