You could feel the excitement in the air, mixed with the exhaustion of all who had been in the Hall H line overnight for the first panel on the biggest of Comic-Con panel days, Saturday. Because we had a pretty good feeling that we’d be seeing something from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice during the Warner Bros. panel.

Sure enough, we got director Zack Snyder. Then, one by one — could it be? YES! BEN AFFLECK! AND HENRY CAVILL! and then GAL GADOT! LOOK!!!

The cute pose was for this selfie by moderator Chris Hardwick:

Hall H was roaring, as you can imagine. It was nearly as crazy as the roar for Loki last year during the Marvel panel. And I was all in.

AND we were shown a teaser! And… hmmm. It’s nighttime, it’s raining. We see Batman! He takes the tarp off of the bat signal, which is lit up! His eyes are glowing white! And he is looking at — Superman! Who is hovering some feet away. And he is looking at Batman! And his eyes start glowing red! And — that’s it!

Wow, if ever a teaser was ripe for parody, it’s this one. I wasn’t crashingly disappointed, and I am a total supporter of what’s to come, but honestly, this teaser was kind of embarrassing. They — they LOOKED AT EACH OTHER! MENACINGLY! I tend to think it’s just an advert, not an actual clip, but if it is a clip, with no context and therefore no drama, it was just sort of silly.

Nevertheless, I am still completely looking forward to the movie. While not laying a heap of expectations at their superfeet, I am definitely going to support this film until I see it, and hopefully beyond. Just maybe not this particular promotion of it.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Holly Hunter, and Jeremy Irons which is slated to hit theaters May 6th, 2016.
