Exciting news about a new “Stargate SG-1” movie: It looks like the SG-1 movie has been greenlit by what Amanda Tapping says as production could start late this year as soon as “Stargate: Universe” wraps. This movie is in addition to a new straight-to-DVD movie.
Amanda Tapping, who had played Col. Samantha Carter on SG-1, is excited about the SG-1 movie:
“As far as I know, we may start in late fall or early winter this year. And I will slip back into Sam Carter very nicely; I’m looking forward to it.”
Martin Wood who co-produced SG-1 as well as was the supervising producer on Atlantis, would most likely direct the SG-1 movie as he states here:
“They asked me to direct the Stargate SG-1 movie, and they are waiting until Universe is finished, and then, of course, they ask me when I’m available,”
Wood is also executive producing Syfy’s Sanctuary with Amanda Tapping.
A “Stargate: Atlantis” movie has been scripted as we previously reported, but it has not been greenlit.
Wood explains the status of the “Stargate Atlantis” movie:
“Atlantis is still being talked about for this year. Right now, I’m so far removed from it, but they’ll let me know, and I’m happy to do it.”
Currently, Amanda Tapping and Martin Wood are busy editing the second season of Sanctuary, but fans can see Tapping in her guest appearance on the premiere of “Stargate: Universe” this coming October 2nd at 9/8C.

Woot! I must confess that SG-1 is my fave TV series of the Stargate franchise. I am really looking forward to any additional adventures they can pump out for fans of SG-1!
