Star Wars: The Complete Saga Hits Blu-ray In September, Available for Pre-Order Now!


Back in August, director/creator George Lucas announced at Star Wars Celebration V that the entire Star Wars saga would be hitting Blu-ray in 2011.  Now, not only is it official but, we’ve got some details about the sets and they’re available to pre-order at a discounted price at Amazon right now.

You get three options to choose from, you can pick up Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, a 9-disc Set that includes all six films and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes and an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives
, the Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy, a 3-disc set that includes Episodes I-III), and 
Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy, a 3-disc set that includes Episodes IV-VI.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga will be $139.99 after its released but, you can pre-order it on Amazon for $89.99. The two Star Wars: Trilogy Sets will be $69.99 after they are released but, you can pre-order them on Amazon for $44.99

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Star Wars in three distinct sets to meet the needs of every Star Wars fan:

– Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray (9-disc Set includes all six films)

– Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes I-III)

– Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes IV-VI)

STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will be available for $139.99 US/$179.99 CAN and the Star Wars: Trilogy Sets for $69.99 US/89.99 CAN. Pricing for each set will vary by international territory.

Flanked by a legion of his finest Imperial Stormtroopers, Darth Vader himself joined Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment President Mike Dunn at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the release, vowing “The forces of the Empire will be at your disposal to assure the success of this endeavor.’’

Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope was released on May 25th, 1977 and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew. The film was directed by George Lucas.

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back was released on May 21st, 1980 and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. The film was directed by Irvin Kershner.

Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi was released on May 25th, 1983 and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Sebastian Shaw and Ian McDiarmid. The film was directed by Richard Marquand.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was released on May 19th, 1999 and stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Pernilla August, Oliver Ford Davies, and Hugh Quarshie. The film was directed by George Lucas.

Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones was released on May 16th, 2002 and stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Frank Oz, Ian McDiarmid and Pernilla August. The film was directed by George Lucas.
