All the news and artwork coming out of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is really intriguing. When last we reported mid-March we told you that Dave Bautista had been cast as Drax the Destroyer and he would be joining Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. Now one of our favorite Star Trek leading ladies is in talks to join the crew.
Star Trek and Avatar heroine Zoe Saldana is said to be in talks to join the cast as the female lead, according to THR. Here’s what they said about her character.
Saldana would play Gamora, the green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. She also happens to be a skilled assassin.
Here’s the concept art. That would be Gamora on the far right.
And that’s not all! Michael Rooker who played our favorite love-to-hate-him character Merle on The Walking Dead has joined the cast. According to Latino Review, he will be playing Yondu. Here’s what Marvel says about the character.
Yondu Udonta was a game hunter of the primitive Zatoan tribe, which were humanoid beings who were native to Centauri IV. The first planet system to be colonized outside of the Sun’s solar system; the colonization took place sometime during the 29th century.
Here’s what Yondu looks like from the comic.
We’ll keep you posted on the latest for Guardians of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and Zoe Saldana which is slated to hit theaters August 1st, 2014.
