Spider-Man: Parker’s Parents and Another Villain Have Been Cast; Emma Stone Debuts Her Gwen Stacy Hair

Just last month, we told you that Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Zooey Deschanel and Denis Leary had joined Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Andrew Garfield in director Marc Webb‘s forthcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot for Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

Now, THR reports that Campbell Scott (Damages, Royal Pains) and Julianne Nicholson (Law & Order: Criminal Intent, William Vincent) will be joining the cast as Peter Parker’s parents, and Irrfan Khan (In Treatment) will be playing Nels Van Atter, alongside Annie Parisse (Fringe, The Tested) as Van Atter’s wife.

Nels Van Atter is rumored to be the film’s second villain. In the comics, Van Atter was Mendel Stromm’s research assistant, and an employee of Norman Osborne. He was used in high-tech experiments, and served as a test subject for a chemical that was developed by Osborne and Stromm, which turned him into a red beast with fangs and claws known as Proto-Goblin.

Denis Leary‘s character, police captain George Stacy, who is the father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) is featured in the original comic book story of the Proto-Goblin. While it hasn’t yet been confirmed that this will be the story line they’re following for the film, the characters have been confirmed.

In other Spidey related news: If you’ve just been dying to see how the crimson haired Emma Stone (Easy A) is going to look as the blonde Gwen Stacy in the upcoming reboot, you’re in luck. The actress arrived on the red carpet at The Trevor Project’s event at the Hollywood Palladium this weekend, sporting her new locks. Check out the pictures below!
