Spider-Man: First Look – Denis Leary On The Set as Captain George Stacy


Back in November, we told you that Denis Leary (Rescue Me, Ice Age: Continental Drift) was about to be cast in Marc Webb‘s forthcoming, as yet Untitled Spider-Man Reboot. In the film, Leary is portraying police captain George Stacy, the father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Now, we’ve got our first look at Leary in his NYPD uniform, exiting a helicopter on the Los Angeles set of the film. Check out the pictures below!

In the classic comics, the character strongly approves of his daughter’s relationship with Peter Parker (Spider-Man), and is also a strong supporter of Spider-Man. In the classic The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 1) #90 (Nov. 1970), During a fight between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, Captain Stacy is crushed by falling debris while saving a child. As he dies, he reveals to Parker that he had known his identity for some time, and asks Peter to take care of Gwen.

The Untitled Spider-Man Reboot starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Chris Zylka and Annie Parisse is slated to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012
