Once again, the Spider-Man 4 rumor mill is spinning. Apparently, Kirsten Dunst’s character, redhead Mary Jane, will be killed and replaced by actress Anne Hathaway in the fourth movie. The 27-year-old actress, who romances actor Tobey McGuire’s character of Spider-Man/Peter Parker, has acted in the three movies of the money-spinning franchise.

Star magazine is reporting that Dunst has signed on for Spidey 4, in which Mary Jane will be killed and replaced by Anne Hathaway. Their source said;

“The plan is for her character to be written out, probably by dying, Anne will take over as Peter Parker’s new love interest for this project and for Spider-Man 5 and 6 which are being written now. Anne’s in LA doing a lot of meetings on the movie, because filming is right around the corner”

Hathaway’s rep. has told Gossip Cop that there’s no truth to rumors Hathaway will be Spidey’s new girl. Nor has there been any confirmation that Hathaway’s has been cast in any of the Spidey films, in the rumored “Vultress” role or any other.

As with all of this Spider-Man 4 news, we’re calling this rumor until any official word is release by Raimi or the studio.
