Not to be outdone by the recent eye-popping imagery released on Relativity Media’s take on the Snow White fairy tale titled Mirror Mirror, Universal Pictures would like to tease your interest to their darker interpretation, called Snow White and the Huntsman. Last month, we shared with you a few pictures from the set of star Kristen Stewart as Snow White in period garb and armored up, ready for battle.
Now, Universal has released new banner art that paints a pretty clear picture of Rupert Sanders’ creative direction on Snow White and the Huntsman. Check out the banner art below:

Here, we can definitely see that Snow White and the Huntsman embraces a darker and more sinister side of the classic fairy tale where even the trees are not what they seem. Chris Hemsworth stands at the left as the Huntsman tasked with ending Snow’s life but trains her to battle the evil queen instead. Kristen Stewart posed in the middle of a clearing in the dark forest stands out like a beacon of hope. Charlize Theron’s evil queen glowers from the right as her winged servants surround her to do her bidding. Each carries a weapon and in the beyond the queen, you can see the battle raging behind her with the castle in the background. Snow White and the Huntsman looks like it could make good on its claims of having a Lord of the Rings fantasy epic quality.
Synopsis:
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar-winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joined the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.
Snow White and the Huntsman is slated to hit theaters on June 1st, 2012.
