Snow White and the Huntsman: Kristen Stewart Confirmed for the Lead Role

Back in January, we brought you the news that Viggo Mortensen (A Dangerous Method) and Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) were in talks with Universal Pictures to star in the Rupert Sanders (The Low Dweller) directed,  Snow White and the Huntsman.

Now, thanks to a couple of messages on Twitter from screenwriter/co-producer Palek Patel, we have confirmation that Kristen Stewart is, in fact now in final negotiations for the lead role, and official confirmation will likely be coming some time this week. Patel apparently let that info slip too soon and deleted the offending tweet but, you can check out a screen shot of it below.

Snow White and the Huntsman offers a different take on the classic fairy tale, having Snow White (Kristen Stewart) banished by the evil queen (Charlize Theron), and forming a bond with the man who was sent to kill her, The Huntsman (Viggo Mortensen). The Huntsman instead becomes her mentor, teaching her how to fight and defend herself.

Snow White and the Huntsman is slated to hit theaters on December 21st, 2012.
