The CW has renewed Smallville for a tenth season. The veteran superhero show’s solid performance on Friday nights led to the early pickup. The series has apparently improved The CW’s Friday night numbers in all important demographic categories, including adults 18-34.

The program pulled in 2.53m last Friday night, up on the previous week’s average of 2.42m. Smallville also saw its rating rise for February’s special double episode Absolute Justice, written by Geoff Johns. The two-part television movie earned 2.6m and 2.94m viewers at 8pm and 9pm respectively.
