On May 14, 2010, death will come for one of the CW’s “Smallville” characters. But who will it be? Rumor has it that a major character will bite the dust. Clark Kent should be safe, but who is on the chopping block? Let’s take a look at insider information from a practical standpoint, shall we?

• Allison Mack is not signed for a contact for her role as Chloe next season as of yet and will appear in the season finale.
• Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) is fair game. Hey, we didn’t think they’d kill of Jimmy Olsen, did we?
• Kristin Kreuk is currently in Vancouver, shooting something… ? Will she be Lana one last time?
• Michael Rosenbaum isn’t coming back to “Smallville” with his new show for SyFy, so Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) is still fielding the Luthor fort. But what about what Doctor Fate saw of Lex Luthor in “Absolute Justice”? He implied that Lex is not actually dead. Could another actor portray Lex in the season finale?
• Both Perry White (Michael McKean) and Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole) will return this season. Both characters will appear in the episode right before the season finale, entitled “Hostage”, but don’t appear to be listed for the season finale.
• Hawkman (Michael Shanks) and Stargirl (Britt Irvin) are rumored to be in the season finale.
• Zod (Callum Blue) is the season baddie. Is his time up now with the introduction of other DC villains?

“Smallville” returns with the remaining episodes of the ninth season today, Friday, on the CW at 8/7 C.
