There have been, and will likely be plenty more rumors surrounding director Christopher Nolan‘s latest trip to Gotham City with The Dark Knight Rises. Just yesterday, we brought you the news/rumor that Nolan may film at the location of the Occupy Wall Street protests in Lower Manhattan.
Now, /Film reports that a trusted theater source (exhibitor) is telling them that a six minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises will be attached to all IMAX prints of director Brad Bird‘s forthcoming Paramount Pictures film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. As we told you previously, The fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise hits U.S. IMAX theaters on December 16th, 2011, five days before it hits traditional theaters.
The biggest reason that I’m not classifying this story as a ‘rumor’ is the fact that back in 2007, despite the fact that Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures produce and distribute the Bat-Films, the opening bank heist scene from The Dark Knight was attached to prints of the Paramount Pictures film, I Am Legend. So, if you needed an extra reason to see Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in an IMAX theater, now you have one!
Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ The Dark Knight Rises is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar winner Christian Bale (The Fighter) again plays the dual role …of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar winner Michael Caine (The Cider House Rules) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) reprises the role of Lucius Fox.
The Dark Knight Rises is slated to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, directed by Brad Bird and starring Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor is slated to hit IMAX theaters on December 16th, 2011 and traditional theaters on December 21st, 2011.
