Sebastian Stan has been cast as Captain America’s sidekick, Bucky Barnes. Stan was one of the actors who originally tested for the lead role in Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America, directed by Joe Johnston, and starring Chris Evans as the titular hero.

Marvel is also reportedly close to casting the female lead, and they have recently tested Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt for the role of Peggy.

The First Avenger: Captain America is slated to hit theaters on July 22, 2011.
