Season 2 Character Details Revealed for AMERICAN HORROR STORY

Okay here’s what co-creator co-showrunner Ryan Murphy has told us so far about what to expect in Season 2  of American Horror Story, which is expected to premiere this fall – in fact, that’s one of the things he has told us. He loves Halloween, no surprise there, and wants this show to be airing during the Halloween season. Yes, there is a Halloween season.

He also has told us, as we reported last February, that the second season will take place on the east coast, and as we reported in April, it will be in an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica Lange‘s character, and that it will take place in a different time in history than the first season; it will be set in the 1960’s.

Many of the Season 1 cast are returning but to entirely different parts. Murphy told TVLine he didn’t want people to know much else about the characters until closer to fall. Sorry Mr. Murphy, but word is getting out. If you, beloved reader, don’t want to know, then off you trot. Go on.

For the rest of you here’s the latest: One of the American Horror Story writers, Tim Minear (he wrote episode 5 “Halloween Part 2” and episode 11 “Birth”), revealed to MTV  News about Lange that “(s)he’s not playing this kind of ersatz Tennessee Williams character this time… She’s playing something that’s a little more East Coast, a little more patrician.” I’m picturing Kathryn Hepburn.

“She’s playing a nun,” he said. “She’s playing an administrator of a facility. It’s different. In this instance, she’s a bride of Christ.” Hmm, so, Kathryn Hepburn as a nun. This is going to be SO GOOD.

We’ve now also learned something about one of the newbies. We told you back in March that Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has been brought on board. For better or worse, he recently revealed to EOnline that he’ll be playing a newlywed:

“I’m newly married and I go with my wife on our honeymoon,” Adam teases. “I don’t want to tell you too much and it and actually I should shut my mouth because [Ryan Murphy] will freak out, but it’s gory…it sounds like so much fun and that’s why I wanted to do it. I was like, this doesn’t even sound like acting; this sounds, like, hysterical, funny, dark and cool and right up my alley.”

Hysterical, funny, dark and cool just happens to be right up OUR alley, too, and perfectly American Horror Story.

American Horror Story Season 2, starring Jessica LangeZachary QuintoEvan Peters,Sarah PaulsonLily RabeChloë SevignyJames CromwellAdam LevineLizzie Brocheré, and Britne Oldford will be premiering this fall on FX.
