SDCC 2011: Warehouse 13 Panelists Talk Artifacts and Spoilers

It was a pleasure to be attending the Warehouse 13 panel at Comic-Con this year, especially since it was in Ballroom 20 for the first time, the second-largest room at Comic-Con – congrats to Warehouse 13 and to Syfy!

On deck this year were Joanne Kelly, Eddie McClintock, Saul Rubinek, Allison Scagliotti, and executive producer Jack Kenny.

Eddie was sporting a Rat Pack look with his hat, very un-Pete-like, but then he said one or two very Pete-like things. My favorite was when he was appropriately astounded at the size of the room, but then compared it to the room they were in the first year and said there were only like three people there, something like two hookers and a wino. I didn’t write it down because I was busy trying to figure out which one I was supposed to have been. Oh, that’s okay, Pete.

We were given some nice bits of info by the panelists. Not-too-spoilery things first (spoiler-ish things will come after the video below): There will be a Christmas episode, and this year it will have been written by two former writing assistants; very cool that each of them started as personal assistants and have moved their way up to this. Jeri Ryan will guest – next week! – as well as Kate Mulgrew.

Allison made we geeky fans squeal when she said that she would love to see her character “go all dark Willow” because of an artifact, though that was in reply to a question and we weren’t given any indication that this is in the cards. She also said that if she were able to get an artifact to use at Comic-Con, she’d get a wormhole to help her get to every booth she wanted to.

All the panelists were asked which artifact they’d like from the show. Joanne said she’d like the disco ball. Here’s what Saul would like:

Now for some more spoilerish info:

We’ll see more H. G. Wells this season. When asked if Myka and H.G. were meant to be giving off a mutual-attraction vibe, Joanne replied that she and Jaime Murray discussed what they could bring to their relationship, and they decided to “fall in love a little bit.” Talk of a spinoff show for the character is still in the early discussion stage.

Jack Kenny said that they’d like to keep the character Mrs. Frederic rather mysterious, so if we learn more about her it won’t be until next year.

Neil Grayston will be in an episode this season, which we already knew, but part of it will take place in a video game(!), which we did NOT know! In the same episode, Allison will “finally” be able to sing and play guitar (I guess as opposed to just playing the guitar, which she did on the season opener).

It sounds like there are some fun plans afoot, and I can’t wait to see them.

Warehouse 13 airs Mondays at 9/8c on Syfy.
