On the first day of San Diego Comic-Con, 20th Century Fox dropped an exclusive sizzle reel for director Rupert Wyatt‘s forthcoming film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. That apparently wasn’t enough, because they have also released a Comic-Con exclusive trailer for the film as well.

The trailer is packed with action, as well as some spoilery footage, so if you want to stay in the dark on the story, you might want to skip it.

Synopsis:

Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, Brian Cox, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and Tom Felton is slated to hit theaters on August 5th, 2011.
