Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures took their Comic-Con appearance to release some character posters for director Joss Whedon’s forthcoming superhero team-up film, The Avengers. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Clark Gregg and Tom Hiddleston.

As you can see from the banner below, the character posters above are all a part of a larger image that’s still missing two pieces… I think it’s safe to assume that one space will be occupied by a god, and the other by a rather hulking figure.

The Avengers is slated to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012.
