Even though this wasn’t the award for Best Ensemble Cast, this past Saturday the sixteenth annual Screen Actors Guild Awards bestowed the honor of Best Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture to J. J. Abrams’ “Star Trek”, beating out “Public Enemies” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. This is positive affirmation that this blockbuster film has broken out of the sci-fi box and seated firmly in the mainstream consciousness.
Other sci-fi nominees included HBO’s “True Blood” for Best Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series and NBC’s “Heroes” for Best Stunt Ensemble in the Television Series. Here is a complete list of nominees and winners.
