Russell T. Davies Says That He Is Leaving Sci-Fi

Russell T. Davies, who brought new life to the Doctor Who franchise in 2005 and created the hit spin-off series, Torchwood, has announced that he is closing the sci-fi chapter of his life after this season of Torchwood to work on material more akin to daily life. In an interview with the BBC, Davies talked about the new season of Torchwood which is set in America and where he’d like to go from there:

“It’s interesting to see how long I can stay in a science fiction world. Personally I think I’m coming to the end of it now, and I’ve saved the world and blown up the world too many times. … It’s time to write something just where people are talking in kitchens after this for me. But I hope that we literally leave the [Torchwood] franchise in a strong position so that other writers can take it over.”
