Wow, here I thought we might actually make it a whole week before more Spider-Man casting news started to circulate… apparently I was wrong. Less than a week ago, Martin Sheen was cast as Uncle Ben and last we heard, Sally Field was in early talks to portray Aunt May in director Marc Webb‘s as yet Untitled Spider-Man Reboot.
Now, sources for Showbizspy report that Marc Webb wants to reunite with his former (500) Days of Summer star Zooey Deschanel (Your Highness), casting her in the role of Betty Brandt, the loyal secretary of Peter Parker’s boss, J. Jonah Jameson. Brandt was a small role, last portrayed by Elizabeth Banks (who is ironically starring opposite Deschanel in My Idiot Brother) in all 3 Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man films but, their sources close to Webb’s production stated:
“Marc Webb has big plans for her. He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey Deschanel fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it.”
The Untitled Spider-Man Reboot is slated to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012
