Production on director Christopher Nolan‘s third Batman film is set to move to the Big Apple later this month. In a casting call for The Dark Knight Rises, under the code name Magnus Rex, the production is looking for actors who have “military and/or law enforcement training/experience, weapons training, and/or martial arts training.” Those who are cast in the film will play characters who live in “a city besieged by crime and corruption“.
The LA Times now reports that while in New York, Christopher Nolan is expected to shoot in Lower Manhattan, right where the Occupy Wall Street protest is currently being held. Unnamed sources are telling them that “cast members have been told the shoot could include scenes shot at the Occupy Wall Street protests.” It’s said that Nolan would likely use the protests as a backdrop for something that already exists in the film, rather than altering the script to include the protest.
Of course being from unnamed sources, this is all purely speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt. I personally doubt that Nolan or Warner Bros. would use an unmanageable and completely unpredictable crowd of people in a movie with a budget as high as The Dark Knight Rises. The only thing I could see them doing without risk to the production is maybe some aerial shots making the protesters and their signs indistinguishable from one another.
