Rumor Has It! The Amazing Spider-Man To Battle Multiple Reptilian Creatures

Back in October, Rhys Ifans (Anonymous) signed on to play the villain, opposite Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland) as Gwen Stacy, in director Marc Webb‘s forthcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man.

Within the press release about Ifans’ casting from Sony/Columbia Pictures, they stated that “The filmmakers prefer to not reveal which character Ifans will be playing in the forthcoming film.” but, sources close to the production have said that the main villain, played by Ifans will be The Lizard.

Now, our friend Mark over at BigFanBoy has heard from a trusted source that

“many of the stunt actors in the film have been spending time in heavy make-up for hours on end because of a fight scene in the film where they’re turning all the S.W.A.T. team guys into reptilian creatures.”

Could this be the work of The Lizard’s alter-ego, Dr. Curt Connors who is a renowned genetic scientist, or could this be the work of Irrfan Khan’s character, who is also a scientist and has stated that his villainous character Niels Van Adder will not turn into a monster or creature himself?

The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Chris Zylka and Annie Parisse is slated to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012
