Rumor Has It! Matthew Goode Is The Frontrunner For Snyder’s SUPERMAN

This past Friday, we told you that casting for Zack Snyder‘s highly-anticipated Superman reboot was officially underway, and that there is speculation that Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries), Joe Manganiello (True Blood) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) may all be up for the role of Clark Kent/Superman.

Contrary to that speculation, there is word is that the studio, producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder would prefer to create a new star by casting a “wide net” to find the right Superman, and were reportedly interested in casting a movie or TV actor between the ages of 28 and 32 who isn’t yet a household name.

Now, MovieNewz (via CineHeroes) is reporting that their sources are telling them that Snyder wants British actor Matthew Goode (Burning Man) to rejoin his Watchmen director, and play mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent in the Superman reboot. Their sources also say that Snyder has plans to rely heavily on CGI to represent The Man of Steel himself, similar to what they have done with Green Lantern.

Superman (a.k.a. Superman: Man of Steel) is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
