Just a few days ago, we brought you the news/rumor that Marvel Studios was moving forward with the production of Doctor Strange, with a screenplay penned by Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the writers behind Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian.

Now, Twitch brings us yet another cool bit of news/rumor from the cinematic House of Ideas. Marvel Studios is reportedly pushing forward with a big screen adaptation of the comic book series, Guardians of the Galaxy. The team was created in 1969 by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan and a new incarnatio of the team was created in 2008 by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a far-future story revolving around a group of alien beings – each the last of their kind – who eventually travel back in time to protect the earth from alien invasion.
