Rumor Has It! John Slattery or Sam Elliot Could Play J. Jonah Jameson in the SPIDER-MAN Reboot

Throughout this month, we’ve brought you the news that Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland) had joined the cast of director Marc Webb‘s upcoming Spider-Man reboot as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans (Anonymous) more recently joined the cast, and is rumored to be playing The Lizard.

Now, What’s Playing says that Webb is currently searching for an actor to take on the role of the Daily Bugle’s gruff newspaper editor, J. Jonah Jameson, a role played by J.K. Simmons in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. Out of a dozen or so actors, they say that John Slattery (Iron Man 2, Mad Men) and Sam Elliot (Ghost Rider, Tombstone) are both reportedly at the top of the contenders list.

The Untitled Spider-Man Reboot is slated to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012.
