Just last week, we were steamrolled with loads of information about the forthcoming, Joe Johnston directed The First Avenger: Captain America. I think most people expected the rumor mill to start spinning pretty fast, with all of the people who have auditioned thus far and Johnston being in the middle of pre-production.
Now there is a totally unsubstantiated rumor that Paramount and Marvel have Chris Pine at the top of a shortlist of actors being considered for the movie role of Captain America.
CinemaSpy reported that it had been given information on the upcoming Captain America film by a tipster, who claimed to be “well-connected” within Paramount.
The source sent them an email stating,
Anyway, just thought you guys might like to know that Paramount and Marvel are pretty close to closing a deal on casting Steve Rogers/Captain America and fans might be excited to learn that the short list includes somebody a lot of fans speculated about, Chris Pine. From what I’m hearing, he’s the frontrunner right now, though that could change. Can’t tell you who the other couple of choices are, cause that’ll work against me for reasons I don’t want to get into.
Anyway, hope this is helpful, feel free to do what you want with it.
Take from this what you will. Though it is believable, there is no official confirmation.
The First Avenger: Captain America, directed by Joe Johnston, is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2011.
