Rumor Has It! Batman / Superman Movie Being Developed At Warner Bros.

Ever since the new DC Entertainment executive / creative team was put together, there has been talks of bringing The Flash to the big screen, and even Wonder Woman, despite the recently failed television series was talked about as being ripe for a big screen treatment, and rumors of a Justice League movie have bounced around the internet more than that Rebecca Black video.

Now, the fine folks over at TMT are reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures is quietly developing a Batman/Superman team-up live action movie, the new Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, will star as Superman,  and the studio is reportedly trying to convince Christian Bale to return as Batman. The site reports that two separate versions of the film are being assembled, one where Batman is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa.

[The Shakedown]

While there’s no question that this information is completely unverified by the studio or anyone presumably involved, there’s really only one thing that screams “bullsh!t” to me about this story. The Batman /Superman movie is definitely a possibility and WB would be stupid to pass up the opportunity, but there’s no way that their going for Bale as Batman.

After The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan has said repeatedly that he is done with Batman, and Bale has stated that he wouldn’t play the bat without Nolan at the helm. Does this mean they couldn’t change their mind, of course not… but I think it’s highly unlikely, especially since Nolan has stated emphatically, too many times to count that Superman could not exist in the same universe as his version of Batman.

So, in summation: Batman / Superman movie = plausible, Cavill as Supes = possible, Bale as Batman = extremely doubtful, chances of this movie happening before 2020 = snowball’s chance in hell. That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.
