IDW and Rebellion/2000 AD are teaming up to release yet another classic 1980s series. Following the success of IDW‘s Judge Dredd, both companies have announced that IDW will be launching a new Rogue Trooper series in 2014, in addition to re-releasing the original series with new colouring done by Adrian Salmon (Doctor Who, Judge Dredd).
Rebellion publishing manager Ben Smith enthused, “We’re thrilled with IDW‘s plans to bring exciting new talents to another of 2000 AD‘s most iconic and popular series . . . Having done such bold and successful work with Judge Dredd, we can’t wait to see how Chris Ryall and his team take on comics’ toughest soldier.”
Originally created for 2000 AD by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, 1981’s Rogue Trooper became a showcase of some of Britain’s top artists of the day including, in addition to Gibbons, Steve Dillon, Colin Wilson, Cam Kennedy, Bret Ewins, and Chris Weston.
Creator/artist info has yet to be released for the new Rogue Trooper series. We’ll keep you updated as those details are made available.
