Robocop Reboot To Be Written By Joshua Zetumer

Earlier this month we told you that MGM was in negotiations with Brazilian director José Padilha (Elite Squad, Elite Squad 2) to helm Robocop‘s return to the big-screen, after the previously attached director, Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) became unavailable due to his commitment to direct The Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman for 20th Century Fox.

Now, Deadline reports that MGM has hired Joshua Zetumer to script the reboot of the 1987 sci-fi film. Zetumer has has written numerous spec scripts, including The Infiltrator, which is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio. He was also enlisted to rewrite the Quantum of Solace script during filming.

G1 reports that director José Padilha is no longer in negotiations and has signed onto direct MGM’s remake of RoboCop.

RoboCop is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
