Robert Downey Jr. Leaves Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY

At the end of last month, we brought you a report that Sandra Bullock was “locked in” for the lead role in Gravity, written by Alfonso Cuarón and his son, Jonas Cuarón and at the time there was speculation that Robert Downey Jr. was leaving the project due to scheduling conflicts. Warner Bros. denied that RDJ would leaving the film, stating that the scheduling issues were expected to be resolved.

Now, THR reports that Sandra Bullock is still negotiating, and Robert Downey Jr. has in-fact officially left the orbit of Alfonso Cuarón‘s Gravity. The studio will now recast his character, who only appears in the first act of the film.

Gravity is slated to hit theaters in 2011.
