Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel To Be Shot In 3D, May Become A New Trilogy

Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel will reportedly be released in 3D. Roger Christian, who served as art director on Scott’s 1979 original, confirmed to Shadowlocked that the upcoming installment of the Alien franchise will utilize the latest 3D technology. Christian also insisted that Scott’s ideas for the film are good enough to resurrect it for a new trilogy.

Christian said,

“Ridley told me some of his ideas… He has a very clear understanding of where this should go.

“They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there’s ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I’m hoping he’ll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it – everybody.”

Alien, which launched the career of Sigourney Weaver, spawned three sequels and two Alien Vs. Predator crossover films that pulled in more than $850 million combined in worldwide box office.

Scott-Free Productions is producing the movie, which is meant to act as a prequel to Scott’s original 1979 classic Alien. The story would return to the original concept of just one alien creature.
