Ridley Scott Says Next BLADE RUNNER a Sequel Without Deckard

Back in August, we brought you the news that director Ridley Scott (Prometheus) was brought on board by Warner Bros. Pictures and Alcon Entertainment to direct the forthcoming Blade Runner film. At the time, we were unaware whether the new film would be a reboot, a prequel or a sequel his 1982 sci-fi classic.

While speaking with the WSJ, the legendary director confirmed that the film “is liable to be a sequel,” though it will not feature any of the original cast, even the lead character, Rick Deckard.

Scott also said that he is close to finding a writer to assist him with the screenplay:

“I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver. We’re quite a long way in, actually.”

As we reported previously, Scott is said to be heading into production on the Blade Runner sequel after the completion of Prometheus, although there currently is no set production or release date for the sequel.
