CLiNT is the comics magazine from Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar and leading entertainment publisher Titan Magazines, showcasing brand new comics and the cream of the creator-owned crop alongside news exclusives from the world of comics and film, and features and interviews with the hottest artists, writers and actors.
Comic book fans who adore writer/creator Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted) are in for a treat. Today issue 2.1 of Millar’s comic book magazine, CLiNT,hit newstands and it features 100 pages of news, interviews, and sneak peaks related to some of the most anticipated creator-owned projects on the horizon. The previews are particularly exciting; two of my favorites were Death Sentence by new-comer Montynero and Millar’s own Supercrooks.
Death Sentence features art by Mike Dowling and follows a group of people who contract a terminal STD that kills them within 6 months. The kicker is that the virus turns them into super humans before it kills them. Think Charles Burns’ Black Hole, but with superpowers instead of freakish mutations.
Millar’s Supercrooks is illustrated by the talented Leinil Yu, and is a heist comic about a group of washed-up super villains out to score one last job so that they can save the life of their mentor. So it’s basically Oceans 11 with super powers! How cool is that? What’s more, Supercrooks has already been put on the fast track for a movie along with Millar’s American Jesus and Kick-Ass 2. Millar sat down to talk about how his role in the adaptations of his work has evolved from the first movie set he ever set foot on in Wanted.
“Everything that I’ve done, movie-wise, I’ve gotten a little more involved.” says Millar. “On Wanted, I was just involved at a tangent, I’d just come in for meetings and watch footage. With Kick-Ass, I was very involved from the beginning, from the two month when the screenplay was being put together, though costume designs and all of that. And from that, to Supercrooks, American Jesus and Kick-Ass 2, which will feel incredibly hands-on.”
What makes the concept of CLiNT so wonderful is that it’s an intimate look into comic creator’s mind. Each sneak peak is supplemented with short interviews with the artists and writers, that is really cool for any fan who likes to learn more about the creative process. The issue is full of great content. Millar fans, we’ve got some great stuff on the horizon. Whether you’re a die hard Millar fan or just someone who loves a damn good story, check out CLiNT 2.1. You won’t be disappointed.
I give CLiNT 2.1 Five out of Five Stars.
