At the beginning of this month, we brought you word that Screen Gems‘ original Capcom property, the Resident Evil franchise was getting another trip to theaters, as Screen Gems’ parent company Sony Pictures announced that Resident Evil 5, with Milla Jovovich was now slated to hit theaters on September 14, 2012.
The last installment in the franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife which was written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starred Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe and Wentworth Miller was number one at the worldwide box office on its opening weekend back in September of last year, and went on to garner over $296 million worldwide in 2 months.
If you saw Resident Evil: Afterlife, you may remember that the device attached to Claire Redfield’s (Ali Larter) chest when she’s found by Alice (Milla Jovovich) makes a return appearance [[spoiler alert]] at the end of the film, when it’s seen clinging to the chest of a (look who go their hair dyed) Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), who is under its control as she flies in an Umbrella Corporation assault helicopter toward Claire, Chris (Wentworth Miller), and Alice.
Now, thanks to the lovely woman who has played Jill Valentine in two Resident Evil films, Resident Evil: Apocalypse (seen at the top) and Resident Evil: Afterlife (seen just above), we know that Ms. Valentine will in fact be returning in Resident Evil 5.
Sienna Guillory took to twitter and said,
“RE:5 alert! Training begins! I aim to mostly put less in the big hole on the front of my face than comes out of the little one on my arse.”
Resident Evil 5 is slated to hit theaters on September 14, 2012.
