Last fall, we brought you word that 20th Century Fox might not shoot the James Mangold (Knight and Day) directed Wolverine sequel starring Hugh Jackman in Japan, as originally intended. It was said back then, that the entire production may move to Canada.
Now, New South Wales Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner has officially stated that The Wolverine will begin production in Jackman’s hometown of Sydney in August, with most of the film’s post-production done in the U.S., assisted by Australia-based companies.
Jackman said,
“I couldn’t be more excited to return to Australia to film the next chapter in the Wolverine saga, thanks to the significant support from the federal and NSW governments. It will be great to work with the highly talented crew and to provide employment opportunities to so many people across all levels of the industry. Not to mention, [wife] Deb and I will get to spend some time with the family back in Australia.”
The Wolverine is slated to hit theaters on July 26th, 2013.
