Production Of SPIDER-MAN 4 On Indefinite Hold

During the making of “Spider-Man 3,” director Sam Raimi did not want Venom to be the villain in the movie, but Sony had other ideas and the result was… well, you’ve seen it. Now that “Spider-Man 4” is ready to head into production in March, the studio is once again getting in Sam Raimi’s way (Big Shock). IESB has learned that the new installment, being called “SPIDER-M4N” by Sony (who has apparently adopted the TR2N naming convention from Disney’s Tron sequel), has been put on indefinite hold while Raimi and the suits agree which villains will actually appear in the film.

Raimi is pushing for Vulture (As he was for Spider-Man 3 instead of Venom), but Sony believes that there are more popular villains that he could use. The suits at Sony don’t have any characters in mind, but will take whichever one is selling the most comic books right now….which is definitely NOT Vulture.
