PRIMEVAL Is Back From Extinction Without Jason Flemyng

The British sci-fi series, “Primeval” is back from previously being canceled by the BBC ITV.  The show came to a standstill, dead-in-the-water when the series’ producer was too tapped out to pay for a fourth season (too many dinosaur chases?).  Now that series creator, Adrian Hodges, has found the funds to continue the show, fans will be able to see what has happened to their fave characters from last season’s cliffhanger that left them stranded in the past.  Hodges gives a spoiler for these new episodes:

“Obviously there’s a question of, at the end of the last season, three major characters were stuck in the past.  So a lot of the first two episodes is going to be about how some of them at least get back.”

This next season of “Primeval” will lead us forward into time for a change.  Hodges continues:

“There will be an aspect of the future in it, which is new for us.”

Wait… there are no dinosaurs in the future, are there?  Hodges explains:

“Well, if you think of the future predators from other [sci-fi] series, we’re going to have a kind of variation on that idea.  There may also be some human intervention from the future as well.”

When the series comes back, it will be less one of their former leads.  Actor, Jason Flemyng has moved on to other projects, but will make an appearance for three episodes.  Hodges talks about how the show will reconcile Flemyng’s absence:

“We’re going to move it on pretty fast.  Jason won’t necessarily come back at the beginning of the season. We’re going to hold back his reappearance, but that will be shooting from March. We have the first five episodes written, so we’re shooting in March.”

Hodges and co. aim for thirteen eps for this upcoming fourth season.
