PORTAL Game Designer Leaves Valve – What Is The Fate Of Sequel?


Kim Swift, lead game designer for “Portal”, has left Valve Corporation to join Airtight Games.  Swift will “build and lead a team in the development of games aimed at a more diverse audience.”

Portal” was hailed as one of the most original games of 2007.  It is a single-player, first-person action/puzzle game that was released as part of a bundled package with other games for the Xbox360 and Playstation 3.  A sequel to the popular game has been talked about since 2008 and some hints about the sequel leaked with casting details, but no new news has been released about the status of the game.  How will the original lead game designer leaving impact the fate of “Portal 2”?
