A planned prequel to the Planet of the Apes will begin production in Canada in July. According to a tweet by Production Weekly, Mammoth Studios has opened production offices for the movie in Burnaby, BC, with filming expected to begin this summer. Rupert Wyatt was previously attached to direct the movie, penned by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
The publication originally reported that the prequel, tentatively titled Caesar, would center on “a hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans that incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of mankind”.
