The Rob Marshall directed,Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is shooting in Hawaii this summer and last we heard, Johnny Depp‘s – Captain Jack Sparrow would be joined by Ian McShane (Deadwood, Kings) as the legendary pirate Blackbeard, along with Penelope Cruz who’s role had yet to be revealed.

While recently speaking with MTV, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that Cruz would in fact be playing the Daughter of McShane’s Blackbeard in the film.

“She plays the daughter of Blackbeard. She’s the daughter of the bad guy. She brings a lot of humor to it, and the fact that she’s so feisty. (There will also be) a little romance between [Depp’s] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays.”

Bruckheimer also added that McShane’s Blackbeard is “the nastiest pirate ever,” and that Geoffrey Rush who played Barbossa will be back for Stranger Tides.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is slated to hit theaters on May 20, 2011.
