Just a few days ago, we brought you the news about director Pierre Morel (Taken) making a presentation to Universal Pictures outlining his take on the big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro board game OUIJA, and he was also in talks to direct the Sam Raimi produced, EDF (Earth Defense Force) for Warner Bros.

Now, Variety reports that Morel is no longer a candidate to direct OUIJA, but he has signed on to direct Warner Bros.‘ alien invasion action film, EDF (Earth Defense Force).

EDF is based on a script from Air Force One screenwriter and Castle executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe, about three alien fighters attacking the planet, leaving countries humiliated. The governments of Earth then race to create a space fighting force in preparation for a second attack by an approaching alien horde.

EDF has no current production or release date.
