Peter Sarsgaard To Play Villain In GREEN LANTERN

As you know, Blake Lively was recently cast as Carol Ferris in the Warner Bros’ DC Comics adaptation, directed by Martin Campbell – GREEN LANTERN. Now, they may have found the ringed one a villian. THR is reporting that Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to play Dr. Hector Hammond. Sarsgaard recently completed production on “Knight and Day” opposite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, and is currently shooting the indie “The Ledge” with Terrence Howard and Evan Rachel Wood.

Hammond was created by John Broome and Gil Kane in the early 1960s. Hammond is a pathologist and son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor. Hammond’s brain grows bigger, he can read minds, he develops potent telepathic and telekinetic abilities and he can absorb and mentally redirect Green Lantern’s emerald plasma.

With this bit of casting news, the only major character left (as far as we know) is Sinestro. “Green Lantern” is expected to begin filming in March.
