Penelope Cruz is reportedly in talks to co-star in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Cruz is eying a major role in director Rob Marshall’s upcoming sequel, titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The Vicky Christina Barcelona star is in negotiations to play Captain Jack Sparrow’s (Johnny Depp) “foil and equal in many ways”.
The project, written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot, is expected to begin production this summer in Hawaii. Cruz was recently nominated for an Academy Award in the category of ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in Marshall’s Nine.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is currently slated to hit theaters on May 20, 2011.
