Back in March, we told you that the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot had undergone a name shortening to simply Ninja Turtles and that Bay reassured fans that they weren’t trying to piss off anyone by changing the origin story. Even with fan backlash, this production has other troubles as well.

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is pushing back the release date from the holiday season of 2013 to the summer season of 2014 in order to accommodate the reduction of the sizeable budget down to $125 million. I bet you were hoping that Paramount axed Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtle reboot instead, right?

Ninja Turtles is slated to hit theaters on May 16th, 2014.
