Paramount Pictures has picked up distribution rights to Area 51, director Oren Peli’s (Paranormal Activity) next film. Area 51 will be in the same vein as Peli’s first picture as it takes the same style “found footage” angle. The film reportedly centers on a group of teenagers who stumble across the famous military base in Nevada, which has become a focus of modern UFO and alien conspiracy theories. Principal photography for AREA 51 wrapped three weeks ago and the film will be released sometime in 2010.
