Just last month, we told you that Charlie Hunnam, who portrays Jax Teller in the FX series, Sons of Anarchy had scored a lead role in director Guillermo Del Toro‘s (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) forthcoming monster movie Pacific Rim, which is scheduled to hit the big-screen in 2013.

Now, The Wrap reports that Idris Elba (Thor, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) is being sought by Legendary Pictures for an additional lead role in the film, which sees a group of soldiers trying to save mankind from extinction by manning large robots to battle giant monsters from space that are bombarding earth.

Pacific Rim is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
