Could it possibly be that we are headed for a fairy tale smackdown with three Snow White live-action adaptations? Both Universal has Snow White and the Huntsman and Relativity has an untitled Snow White project on the way but Disney seeks to join the fray.
THR reported that Disney is developing their take on a live-action Snow White, entitled The Order of the Seven. Former Animal Logic visual effects artist and commercials director Michael Gracey is attached to direct the project with a script from Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt and Andrew Gunn producing.
Disney has been working on The Order of the Seven since 2002 and will, as the title suggests, be more centered on the Snow White’s seven dwarves who are a “19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption.” The story is set in China with an international cast of warriors, “each with a unique fighting style.”
So, Disney is taking a pointedly action-packed angle on the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarves tale they animated in 1937.

Well, this version of the Snow White story is definitely different than the other two in production right now. I’m a sucker for well-choreographed action sequences so I am willing to give Disney a chance to ‘wow’ me. Fairy tales are a generous land of imagination so let’s hope that this live-action interpretation doesn’t lose that fantastical spark.
No release date has been set yet for The Order of the Seven. Production is to begin sometime in 2012, bringing the projected release date to be well after Universal’s and Relativity’s Snow White films’.
